If you’ve been dreaming of building a home that combines the charm of a country house with the convenience of modern living, then you’re in for a treat. This spacious one-level country house plan offers a delightful mix of classic and contemporaneous elements, topped off with an optional finished bonus room above the garage.

The Floor Plans:

Front Porch

As you step onto the Front Porch, you’re welcomed by a spacious and inviting area that just screams “sit here and relax.” Look at those lovely front-facing bay windows!

Not only do these add an appealing aesthetic touch, but they also let in plenty of natural light, illuminating the internal front spaces beautifully.

Foyer

Walking through the front door, you enter the Foyer, a central point of introduction that effortlessly guides you into the heart of the home.

I love that this spacious foyer allows you to make a grand entrance, setting the tone for the rest of the house.

Study

To your immediate right, you’ll find the Study. This room, with its large front-facing bay window, is perfect for those who work from home, or it could easily be turned into a quiet reading nook or hobby room.

Its positioning at the front of the house ensures a quiet and detached environment.

Formal Dining Room

To the left of the foyer, the Formal Dining Room awaits. Again, the bay window feature adds a touch of elegance here. What’s great about this space is its versatility.

You could easily accommodate a large dining table for family gatherings or opt for a more intimate setup for everyday meals.

Great Room

Moving further into the house, you are naturally drawn to the expansive Great Room. This room serves as the beating heart of the home, ideal for family gatherings or simply lounging around. The focal point here is undoubtedly the cozy fireplace.

Imagine winter evenings spent here, the fire crackling warmly. High ceilings add an element of openness, making the room feel even more spacious.

Kitchen and Breakfast Area

Adjoining the Great Room is the Kitchen and Breakfast Area. The kitchen layout is practical yet stylish, offering ample counter space for all your culinary adventures. I really appreciate the little details like the central island which doubles as a breakfast bar.

The adjacent breakfast area, bathed in natural light from the surrounding windows, is perfect for casual family meals. I’d even consider adding a small herb garden on the windowsill!

Covered Porch

Access to the Covered Porch from the breakfast area makes this an ideal setup for al fresco dining. The covered area ensures you can enjoy the outdoors regardless of the weather. Plus, this space could also double as a cozy outdoor lounge.

Master Suite

Now, let’s talk about the Master Suite, secluded off to the right side of the house for optimal privacy.

The bedroom is spacious enough to accommodate a king-sized bed along with additional furniture. Two things stood out for me here: the luxurious en-suite bathroom and the walk-in closet.

The bathroom features a separate shower and soaking tub, allowing you to unwind in comfort. The walk-in closet is practically a room in itself – perfect for those who love their fashion.

Bedrooms 2 and 3

Bedrooms 2 and 3 are situated on the opposite side of the house. I love this split-bedroom layout – it gives everyone their own personal space. These bedrooms are generously sized and share a well-appointed bathroom located conveniently between them. This makes it an ideal setup for kids or guests.

Laundry Room

Near these bedrooms, you’ll find the Laundry Room. It’s spacious enough to accommodate a washer and dryer, with additional room for folding and sorting clothes. Including some built-in cabinetry would greatly enhance the functionality of this space.

Garage and Bonus Room

Then there’s the Garage with the optionally finished Bonus Room above it. The garage provides ample space for two cars plus storage. The bonus room above it is an absolute gem! It could serve as a guest suite, media room, or even a game room. This is where you can genuinely let your imagination run wild.

I think there are several enhancements you could consider. For instance, would adding a mudroom near the garage entrance increase daily convenience? How about enclosing part of the covered porch to create a sunroom?
