5,000 Square Foot Rustic Mountain Home Plan with Angled Garage (Floor Plan)

Some homes just feel right from the moment you pull up, even before you walk through the door.
This one pulls you in with its Craftsman-meets-mountain-cottage exterior, blending gray shingles, natural stone, and warm wood details, all finished with crisp white trim and a deep covered porch.
When you step inside, the main level invites you with spaces for gathering, quiet work, and everyday living, while the private upper level works well for family or long-term guests.
I notice each space balances comfort, a connection to nature, and the kind of flexible living that makes daily life easier.

The Floor Plans:

Covered Porch
You arrive at the front of the house, greeted by a broad covered porch that gives off just the right amount of charm.
With sturdy columns, stone bases, and wood accents, this porch is more than decorative. There’s space for a porch swing or a couple of rocking chairs, so you can picture morning coffee or evening chats, all sheltered from the elements.
Large windows give you a glimpse of the light-filled rooms inside, and the door leads directly to the main foyer.

Foyer
As you enter, you step into the foyer, which feels open and welcoming without being overdone.
The space is well-proportioned, offering enough room to greet guests or take off shoes without feeling cramped.
From here, you get your first look into the rest of the home. There are sightlines to the dining room, a peek at the lodge room’s windows, and access to the main staircase leading to the upper level.
This area introduces the home’s mix of elegance and comfort in a subtle way.

Dining Room
Just off the foyer, the dining room is ready for both everyday meals and special gatherings.

Tall windows bring in plenty of light, and the wide opening connects it easily to the rest of the house.

There’s enough space for a large table and plenty of chairs, perfect for family dinners or a relaxed brunch with friends.
I like the wood ceiling detail here; it adds character without feeling overwhelming.
Lodge Room
In the lodge room, you’ll immediately notice the ceiling opening up above, thanks to dramatic exposed beams and a wall of oversized windows.
The stone fireplace stands out as a strong focal point. Built-in shelves and warm wood floors give the room plenty of personality.
I can see this being a favorite spot to unwind, whether you’re curled up with a book or hosting a game night, all while enjoying views of the backyard and deck through those impressive windows.

Covered Porch and Open Deck
Just past the lodge room, double doors lead to a covered porch and an open deck that wraps around the back of the house.
The porch feels nicely sheltered, making it a great spot for outdoor dining year-round. Step further onto the open deck and you’ll find space for grilling, lounge chairs, or even a little container gardening.
Here, you’re surrounded by nature, taking in views of the trees or mountains.

Kitchen
Back inside, the kitchen is truly the heart of the main level. It’s spacious, with a generous island at the center that comfortably seats five.

White brick walls, shaker cabinets, and pale wood details create a fresh look, while black pendant lights give it a modern edge.
There’s plenty of prep space, and the layout lets you cook big meals while chatting with family at the island.
I think this setup works especially well for busy mornings or holiday baking sprees.
Pantry
Located just off the kitchen, the walk-in pantry gives you more storage than you might expect, with room for dry goods, small appliances, and all those kitchen extras.
Floor-to-ceiling shelving makes organizing easy. If you love to cook, I think you’ll really appreciate this extra space.

Breakfast Room
Flowing out from the kitchen, the breakfast room is a circular space surrounded by windows.
Natural light pours in from every direction, and even though it’s open to the kitchen and keeping room, it feels intimate.
I can picture lingering over coffee here or watching the backyard come alive in the morning.

Keeping Room
The keeping room is a flexible bonus space just off the breakfast nook. With its own fireplace and plenty of natural light, this spot could work as a family room, a homework zone, or a quiet retreat for reading.
I like that it’s near the kitchen, making it easy to keep an eye on kids or stay part of the conversation while you cook.

Mud Room
Next to the kitchen, you’ll find the mud room, a practical spot for daily comings and goings.
There’s storage for boots, backpacks, and coats, plus built-in benches to make getting ready easier.
The mud room connects directly to the garage, so you don’t have to track mud or groceries through the house.

Powder Room
Just off the mud room is a convenient powder room for guests. This keeps the main bathrooms private.
Even in this smaller space, the finishes match the rest of the house—simple, well-chosen, and easy to maintain.

Office
If you work from home or just need a quiet spot for paperwork, the office is tucked right off the kitchen.
Large windows keep it bright, and there’s space for a full desk and shelves. I think this is a great location; you can focus, but still stay close to the kitchen activity.

In-Laws Suite
One of my favorite main level features is the in-laws suite. It’s set in a quiet corner near its own covered porch, with a full bathroom and plenty of privacy.
This is perfect for long-term guests, older family members, or even an au pair. With windows on two sides, the room feels cheerful and inviting.

Three-Car Garage
Connected to the mud room, the three-car garage offers space for vehicles, bikes, and all the extra storage an active family needs. The extra width makes it comfortable to move around even when the garage is full.

Master Suite
The master suite sits apart on the main floor, creating a true retreat. Down a short hallway, you’ll find a space that feels both grand and welcoming.

High ceilings, oversized windows, and enough room for a king bed and a sitting area mean you can really spread out.
There’s a calm, peaceful feeling here, helped by soft colors and natural light.
Master Bathroom
Through the bedroom, the master bathroom features a soaking tub, a big walk-in shower, dual vanities, and a private water closet.
Details like extra storage and a separate makeup counter make daily routines feel more special.
I could see myself wanting to linger here a bit longer in the mornings.

Walk-In Closet
The master walk-in closet almost feels like a room of its own, with space for clothes, shoes, and a few special items.
Organized shelving and hanging space keep everything in order. I especially like how it connects directly to the laundry room—no need to carry clothes down the hall.

Laundry Room
The laundry room sits between the master suite and the main hallway. There’s counter space for folding and plenty of storage cabinets, making it both functional and convenient.
I think placing it near the bedrooms was a great decision.

Powder Room (P.R.)
A second powder room is located near the foyer and dining room for guests. This keeps the main bathrooms private and gives everyone easy access during gatherings.

Staircase
The main staircase sits just off the foyer and leads to the upper level. Wide steps and a classic railing help the transition between floors feel smooth and welcoming.
Now, let’s go upstairs and see what you’ll find on the upper level.

TV Room
At the top of the stairs, you step into the TV room, a flexible living area that could become a playroom, media space, or teen hangout.
There’s enough room for a comfy sectional and a big screen. I imagine this will quickly become everyone’s favorite spot for movie nights.

Guest Room (Top Right)
Just past the TV room, there’s a large guest bedroom with windows facing two directions.
This room feels private at the end of the hall and is filled with natural light.
It includes a walk-in closet for storage and a bathroom just steps away, making it a comfortable home-away-from-home for visitors.

Guest Bath (Bath #4)
The nearby guest bath serves both the guest room and the TV room. There’s plenty of space for guests, including a full bathtub and storage.
I appreciate how the design here keeps everyone comfortable.

Guest Room (Lower Left)
Across from the TV room, you’ll find a second guest room that’s just as spacious and includes its own walk-in closet. With a window overlooking the front yard, this bright, versatile space would work for kids, guests, or even as a home gym.

Guest Bath (Bath #3)
The second upstairs guest room has a private bath, making this area feel almost like a mini suite. You’ll find a good-sized shower and enough storage for longer stays.

Walk-In Closet (W.I.C.)
Each guest room on this level enjoys its own walk-in closet, providing plenty of storage. These closets are large enough to organize clothes, suitcases, and a few keepsakes.
Back at the staircase, you can head down to the main floor, having seen every nook and cranny.
This home does more than give you space to spread out; it brings everyone together, offering memorable spots for gathering and quiet places to relax.
No matter if you’re entertaining, running a busy household, or looking for a peaceful place to unwind, I’m confident this layout will adapt to your needs.
